This botanical portrait has been made by Katy Eccles of Imprint Casts using a unique casting process. Katy selected a single Veronica flower head which she carefully rolled into clay and then delicately removed to leave a delicate impression of the fresh botanical imprinted in the clay. A special blend of plaster has then been poured onto the clay to preserve the impression and give it a permanent form. The background has then been carefully hand painted a pastel blue and and framed in a tonally complimentary Farrow&Ball Oval Room blue box frame to finish. Inspired by the Victorian hobby of collecting and preserving botanical specimens to study and admire, this cast celebrates the form and beauty of the Veronica plant. These botanical portraits are designed to hang along or can be paired with the other casts from this collection in a trio or side by side.
